Children's Services Assistant Position Opening

The Lincoln Public Library has an opening for a part-time Children’s Services Assistant:

The Children’s Services Assistant is responsible for children’s services support including programs such as Books and Babies, school aged book clubs and summer programs as well as children’s collection development in conjunction with the Children’s Services Coordinator. The position also has responsibilities for ‘frontline services’ related to circulation, reference and reader advisory as a member of the public service team.

Experience working with children essential. Early Childhood Education Diploma or Library Techniques Diploma preferred. 50 hours on average biweekly including evenings and Saturdays. Must have transportation between the Beamsville and Vineland locations.

Page Turners Program Cancelled

The Page Turners summer book club for Grades 4 to 6 has been cancelled due to lack of registration.

Special Summer Programs

The special Wednesday programs for children have been sold out in Beamsville, but there are still spaces in Vineland.

There are spaces still available in all the special Teen programs.

Summer @ the Lincoln Public Library

Things are really happening at the Lincoln Public Library.

Come on in to register now for the TD Summer Reading Program and 'splash' into all the great books you can read.

The Read to Me program for the preschoolers will start the week of July 11.

Summer Program Registration

Registration for the 'Read to Me' program for preschoolers and the TD Summer Reading Club with the great 'Splash' theme for school aged children begins June 27. The Children's Department has planned a great activities this year with special 'Wacky Wednesday' programs.

The Library will also have the popular summer program for teens. The theme for this summer is 'Pirates'. Watch for the Pirates of the Caribbean movie marathon.

A big thank you to all who came to visit Miss Gail on her last day with the Lincoln Public Library. She extends her appreciation to all of you. She is going to miss all of you!

Goodbye Miss Gail

Gail McKitterick, Lincoln Public Library's Children's Services Assistant, is leaving to move to South Carolina. Over the past five years, Gail has spearheaded a number of interested programs, in particular the Book Chat and the Books and Cocoa Book Groups for children. She is going to be greatly missed by both patrons and staff alike.

The Library is having an Openhouse on Thursday May 19 from 10-5 in the meeting room of the Fleming Library, Beamsville. Please come and wish Miss Gail well in her new adventures.

Local History Talks Continue on Saturday

The second installment of the Lincoln Local History Talks will take place Saturday May 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Schoolhouse of the Jordan Museum. The topic is local schools. This week's talks will look at the Campden and Tintern Public Schools and Beamsville District Secondary School.

Seniors Wii Bowling

The Seniors Wii Bowling program is now being held twice a month on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 1:00 p.m. in the meeting room of the Fleming Library in Beamsville.

Have fun and get some exercise at the same time! The next sessions will be held May 10 and May 24.

Tickets still available for Monday's Author Reading

A reminder that there are still tickets available for the reading on Monday April 11. You will still get the discounted price of $7 if you come to the library before 7:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Dr. Ross Pennie will be previewing his new novel - Tampered which is coming out in May. The on order record is in the online catalogue, so put your hold on now for this great read!

There will also be great prizes to be won from many local businesses.

Reminder - Tickets Still Available - April 11 Author Reading

A reminder that tickets are still available for the Lincoln Public Library's "An Evening with Authors" on Monday April 11 at the Lincoln Centre, Central Ave. in Beamsville.

Join Ross Pennie, author of "Tainted" and Eleanor Johnston, author of the "Blessing Game" as they read from locally themed mysteries.

Door open at 7:00 p.m. and the reading begins at 7:30.

Tickets are $7 in advance from both library locations and $10 at the door.

Proceeds will benefit the Lincoln Public Library.
