Coronation Street Club

The first Coronation Street evening was such as success, that we decided to make it a monthly event. We will meet again Wednesday November 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Centre, Central Avenue in Beamsville to view that day's episode, have a Corrie quiz and talk about the latest happenings. Service Disruption

There will be no Internet, online catalogue or circulation service at the Moses F. Rittenhouse Library (Vineland) on Saturday November 15 for computer changes. There will be a short disruption at the Fleming Library (Beamsville), but Internet, online catalogue and circulation service will be available most of the day.

The Lincoln Public Library apologizes for the inconvenience.

Adult Book Group

The Lincoln Public Library is changing the day and time for its adult book group to the third Thursday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the Fleming Library starting in November.

Coronation Street Celebration

Are you a Coronation Street fan? The Lincoln Public Library and the Beamsville Seniors Club are having a special evening just for you!

Join other Corrie fanatics on Wednesday September 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Centre, Central Avenue in Beamsville for a special evening of Corrie trivia, English treats and a viewing of a Corrie episode and the latest antics of David, Blanche and Norris.

Fall Children's Program Registration

It's time for Fall Children's Program registration!

Registration for the library's three preschool programs: Books and Babies, Tales for Twos and Story Hour begins September 22. The programs start October 1 to 3, depending on the program chosen and the location. The cost for each program is $16.00 for 8 weeks.

The after school book club programs: Books and Cocoa Club for Grades 1-3 begin and Bookchat for Grades 4-6 start up again in September. Books and Cocoa takes place the 2nd Monday of the month at Fleming. Bookchat is offered the 4th Monday of the month at Fleming. The cost is $1 per month to cover the costs of the snack.

The library wll be offering a new program starting in October for children aged for 4-8 and their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles or older siblings. The Book Bug Club is a new family book club that not only promotes literacy and a love of books, but also nutures family connections. The Book Bug Club is scheduled for the first Tuesday evening of the month from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Fleming. The cost is $20.00 for 8 sessions from October to May and includes a snack.

Laugh Out Loud at the Lincoln Public Library!

The theme of this year's TD Summer Reading Program is Laugh out Loud. The Lincoln Public Library will be offering a great line-up of summer activities for both preschool and school-aged children. There are even programs for teens.

Registration for the children's programs begins June 27.

Holds and Interlibrary Loans

Did you know that you can put holds on any non-print item in the library, including DVDs?

Did you know that the library can request a book from another library if we don't have it?

Just ask us!

We can help you place holds either at the library or on-line, and we can request the books you need from another library.

Summer Student Program Assistant Opening

The Library has an opening for a Summer Student Program Assistant. The Assistant will help plan and conduct the TD Summer Reading Program, help coordinate the reading reporting volunteers and assist with other library duties as required.

The Student must be returning to school and studying in the following areas: Library Science, Library Techniques, Education or Early Children Education.

The position begins the week of June 9 for 11 weeks. The rate of pay is $10 for a 35 hour week.

Deadline for applications is May 2o.

May Book Group

The May Adult Book Group will take place Wednesday May 28, 7:00 in the meeting room of the Fleming (Beamsville) Library. The topic is current reading.

Lincoln Public Library’s new Slogan: Learn, Discover, Experience, Explore

The Lincoln Public Library recently held a community contest to find a slogan which would represent its mission and goals. The Library received twenty-three submissions from local residents. The Bout Family from Vineland created winning slogan: ‘Learn, Discover, Experience, Explore’.

“There is no limit to what you can learn about, discover and explore at the library”, stated Library Board Chair Jane Wright. “The slogan tells us exactly what our library offers to every one of us. There is something for every age and stage of our lives.”

The Bouts were awarded a $100 gift certificate from Chapters at the April 7, 2008 Town of Lincoln Council Meeting.

The slogan will be incorporated into all future correspondence and promotional materials.

Adult Book Group

The Adult Book Group will resume its meetings in April.

The Group will meet April 16, 7:00 p.m. at the Fleming Library.

Library's Strategic Plan

The Lincoln Public Library Board recently approved a new 2007-2010 Strategic Plan. The Plan includes the goals and directions for library service in Lincoln over the next three years.

Some of the key initiatives include enhanced communication to the general public, linkages to information providers, planning for a enhanced facility in Beamsville and specialized information services.

Winter 2008 Preschool Program Registration

Registration for the Winter Preschool Programs begin the week of January 14.

Books and Babies registration begins January 14.

Tales for Twos and Preschool Storytime registration begins January 16.

Special Programming during the Christmas school break

The Lincoln Public Library will be offering special children's programming during the Christmas school break.

Thursday January 3 - 10:30 - Chinese New Year Party - for ages 6 and up - $2.00 program fee
Friday January 4 - 11-noon - Wonderful World of Winter - for ages 3-6 - $2.00 program fee

Both programs will take place at the Fleming Library (Beamsville).

Moses F. Rittenhouse Library opens on Fridays

Beginning January 11, 2008, the Moses F. Rittenhouse Library will open Friday afternoons from 1-5 p.m. The Library Board made this decision based on the requests for Friday service that came from the 2006 Community Survey.

Christmas Closures

The Christmas closures for the Lincoln Public Library will be as follows:

December 24 -December 26: Closed
December 27-29: Regular Hours
December 31: Close at 5:00 pm.
January 1: Closed
January 2: Regular Hours Resume

Christmas Open House

The Lincoln Public Library will be having a Christmas Open House on Saturday December 8 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Fleming (Beamsville) Library.

The current art show artists will be on hand to discuss their work.

Donna Bothen will be conducting a Christmas Stocking workshop.

Refreshments will be served.

Non-perishable food donations for the Community Care would be greatly appreciated.
